Description and Responsibilities

The Youth and Young Adult Group Residence and the Young Adult Supported Living programs support individuals (males and females) referred by the Department of Children and Families. The group residence serves seven young adults 17-22 years old while the supported living program serves two young adults 18-22 years old. The programs focus on building independent living skills and supporting the transition to young adulthood.  Staff focus on goals such as living within a budget to save money, food shop and cook, do their own laundry, utilize transportation, complete an educational program, and obtain employment.

 

The Program Coordinator provides oversight of the day-to-day operations including program staff, milieu management and administrative functions. They also facilitate safe, stable, and permanent connections by introducing each youth to the idea of permanency and engaging them to be actively involved in their own permanency.

 

Other Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct family search including reaching out and engaging them in permanency planning and decision making. 
  • Work with youth to identify parents, family member, or caring adults they wish to be connected with.
  • Hire, supervise, mentor and evaluate direct reports. Develop and manage program budget. Facilitate weekly staff meeting.
  • Prepare youth for safe, stable, and permanent relationships, and assist them in readiness to live in the family and/or community.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Human/Social Services related field or a minimum of four years experience working with the population.
  • Minimum two years of program management and supervisory experience required.
  • Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record, required.
