Description and Responsibilities

Open Sky is seeking compassionate individuals who are looking to work for a large human service organization where there are opportunities to build a rewarding and meaningful career. The Young Adult Access Drop-In Center serves youth aged 16-26 in need of support and resources to achieve independence and accomplish life changes.  Program staff will work with youth on their goals around mental health, economic stability, housing, substance use, employment preparation, self-advocacy, parenting and pregnancy, access to entitlements, or a number of other needs or barriers to success.  The program also will make referrals to more intensive services within and outside of the Open Sky Network as needed.

 

Young Adult Peer Mentors use lived experience and peer training to develop mutually beneficial relationships while maintaining appropriate boundaries.  They work with the youth/young adult, the program clinician, and the Transition Case Manager to support the youth/young adult in in carrying out their transition plan.  They also exhibit Open Sky’s commitment to racial equity, justice, diversity, and inclusion in the work they perform.

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Engage young adults with mutual non-directive relationships. Provide support, and empower them to achieve their goals.
  • Develop and facilitate groups in the access center.
  • Assist in connecting young adults to services, entitlements, and appropriate support networks.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.  Alternative education/experience in lieu of formal education will be considered.
  • Must have lived experience and be a peer to young adults.
  • Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
  • Reliability, willingness to learn, and desire to promote a better living standard for youth and young adults living with a mental illness or behavioral challenges.
