Description and Responsibilities

The PLACE for Empowerment serves youth aged 16-26 in need of support and resources to achieve independence and accomplish life changes.  Program staff work with youth on their goals around economic stability, housing, substance use/mental health challenges, employment preparation, self-advocacy, access to entitlements, and several other needs that create barriers to success.  The program also will make referrals to more intensive services within and outside of the Open Sky Network, as needed.

 

The Recovery Support Specialist has personal experience with Substance Use Disorder and the willingness to share that experience with Youth and Young Adults to provide support and mentorship to individuals served. They work as a team with the Youth Peer Mentors and Transition Facilitators to support needs, co-facilitate advisory groups, and attend system of care meetings to infuse youth and young adult voice and perspective.

 

Other Key Responsibilities: 

  • Collect data in support of quality improvement and evaluation measures.
  • Establish trusting relationships through compassion, empathy and insight with youth and young adults.
  • Embraces diverse populations.
  • Participate in grant collaboration learning opportunities.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent, required.
  • Driver’s License, acceptable driving record and reliable transportation, required.
  • Must have lived experience with Substance Use Disorder and have the ability to forge mutually beneficial relationships with people served while maintaining strong boundaries/ethics.
  • Experience providing individual coaching and facilitating group supports, preferred.
