Community Membership Facilitator (25 Hours)

Open Sky’s Community Membership Department provides opportunities for individuals served to establish a variety of valued roles within their communities. The Community Membership Team works closely with the Staff Development Department to offer a number of trainings that cover several approaches to working with people served, staff and communities. Opportunities are created through strong community partnership development as well as unique programs designed to facilitate relationships and membership within the community.

We are seeking a creative, motivated candidate to serve in the part-time position of Community Membership Facilitator. Under the supervision of the Director of Community Membership, this position will play an active role in matching the individuals served by Open Sky programs in Worcester County with social and cultural groups within the community. The ideal candidate is passionate about helping individuals with disabilities participate in fun and social activities where they can integrate with those without disabilities and thrive in those environments while building long-term friendships.

This position has flexibility for the hours worked, but attendance is expected for events that may occur in evening and/or weekend hours.

Other Key Responsibilities:

• Build relationships and trust with the programs of Open Sky in Worcester County and discover what kinds of social and cultural activities are of interest to the people we serve.
• Establish relationships with organizations in the community where individuals served can be a part of interesting, fun, and valuable activities, and be able to make new friends with those who are outside of the Open Sky network.
• Engage with / recruit community volunteers and assist with onboarding and backgrounding requirements.
• Maintain documentation around efforts, including community mapping, and forms of advertising events and gatherings.

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent, required.
• Valid drivers license, reliable transportation and acceptable driving record, required.
• Minimum of two years experience working with those with disabilities, in a community engagement role, in a human services role, or equivalent, required.
• Knowledge of and ability to discover local community resources through a variety of in-person, phone, and online means.
