Description and Responsibilities

Are you looking for a rewarding position that provides flexibility to work with your personal, work or school schedule?

Join our Relief Team!

The Relief position will give you an opportunity to gain experience and make a difference in someones life while working with people with Mental Health challenges.

These programs are located in or near Northborough, Westboro, Worcester, Millbury, and Shrewsbury. The Children's and Adolescents programs are an approved Caring Together Group Home Programs for adolescents referred by the Department of Mental Health (DMH) and the Department of Children and Families (DCF). These programs utilize recovery-based, evidence-based treatment models to assist youth in moving into more independent settings.

Open Sky offers a broad range of mental health services for younger children and adolescents. We are committed to the use of evidence-based treatments, combined with age-appropriate wraparound services, to assist young children and adolescents to move beyond their social-emotional, behavioral, or psychiatric challenges and return successfully to their homes, schools, and the community. The Youth Group Care homes provide comprehensive treatment in a group care setting for youth (males and females) who have a history of psychiatric hospitalizations. The goal of the program is to work collaboratively with the youth and family to enhance personal, social, and independent living to prepare for family reunification or a transition to independent living. The program utilizes a Wraparound Philosophy which helps family, support members, and service providers work together to support the family and youth.

Relief Counselors provide direct care and supervision to the youth and young adults served by the program. They help to empower the youth served through the use of a trauma informed care approach; utilizing such skills as compromising, negotiating, and problem solving. They help to keep the youth integrated into the community both locally and in their home towns. They also exhibit Open Sky’s commitment to racial equity, justice, diversity, and inclusion in the work they perform.  Additionally, because they will be preparing meals to share with the youth, free meals is an added perk.

Other Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing individualized, person-centered treatment plans and play a lead role in the daily implementation plans.
  • Assist individuals to access and/or provide transportation.
  • Implement activities that create opportunities for the development of valued roles and personal relationships in the community.

  • Review and complete all required documentation.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent, required.
  • Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record, required.
  • Reliability, willingness to learn, and being open to new opportunities.
