Description and Responsibilities

The Summer Temp position supports individuals with  developmental disability and or Mental Health Challenges to live as independently as possible, while providing guidance and performing various levels of assisted daily living skills. Relief Counselors act as strong advocates for individuals served, believe in the power of community and importance of community integration. Relief positions are provided with paid orientation, onboadring and various trainings. 

  1. Provide direct support to individuals served ensuring daily living needs are met. 
  2. Assist individuals in meeting their basic health needs.
  3. Maintain a safe yet challenging atmosphere; create a supportive environment that will enhance individual growth.
  4. Ensure the overall safety of program participants at all times.
  5. Perform crisis intervention, if necessary.
  6. Follow record-keeping procedures and communicate pertinent information to regular staff via written and verbal means.
  7. Follow all Agency and Program specific policies and procedures including Relief Employee Expectations.
  8. Maintain regular contact with the Relief Coordinator and Programs by responding to all Agency communication in a timely fashion. 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required. 
  • Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
  • Reliability, willingness to learn, and being open to new opportunities.
